I was picked up exactly on time at my hotel and driven to the trailhead for my personally guided hike complete with complimentary lunch. My guide and driver, Nicolas, spoke excellent English and took the time to explain the geology of the Andes Mountains as well as interesting Santiago landmarks seen on the drive to and through Cajon del Maipo.

Mauro and Nico picked me up (and then dropped me at the airport) and shared lots of great information about the area on our drive out. They brought poles for me and an incredible lunch. The interpretation of the ecology of the area was amazing and we even saw a gray fox on the summit!

We were a bit worried that we were not going to be able to see much as it is autumn but Nicolas had an impressive and extensive knowledge of the plants along the way, we saw some wildlife and the views were amazing so we really didn't need to worry!
